Race Description:
On the 4th of July in Molalla, thousands of people from all over the region will line our street to watch the parade. The Freedom 5K is a 3.1 mile race that mirrors the entire parade route just before the parade starts. This race is designed for both the serious athlete seeking a PR, as well as individuals and families just looking for a fun experience on the 4th of July. Aside from the thrill of having thousands of people to cheer you on as you accomplish your goal, the race also takes you through historic downtown Molalla, and provides a great way to see our community.

- 8:00 am Packet Pick-up and race day registration opens
- 9:20 am 5K starts
- 9:30 Parade begins

Charity:
As a non-profit organization we are proud to be able to give 100% of our race profits back into the community. 80% of our profits will go to support veterans in need through our local VFW Post. Last year we were able to give just over $1800 to our veterans which went to things like providing dental care to homeless veterans, giving care packages to active duty members in combat zones, and financial aide to needy/disabled veterans. It is the veterans who have secured our freedom, and we want to give back to them. 20% of our profits will go to our local Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber organizes the parade, and they support the businesses in our community. With the economic condition our Chamber has lost some funding and we want to support them so that they can support our local business. By choosing to run the Freedom 5K you are making a difference!!!
Who can participate?
This race is designed for both walkers and runners. Official times will be given to all participants who finish the race in under one hour (19:21 min/mile pace). You will be allowed to finish the route as long as you stay in front of the parade.
T-Shirts:
All participants who register before June 1st will receive a technical t-shirt with their registration. While we want all of our participants to get a shirt, if your register after June 1st, we will have already placed our T-Shirt order and there is a chance we might run out of shirts.
Free Rodeo Tickets:
Every participate will receive a free ticket to the Molalla Buckeroo PRCA Rodeo! The ticket is good for admission to the 1:30pm show on July 4th, 2013! So plan to run the race, see the parade, grab lunch, and then head to the best Rodeo around!
Timing:
The race will be timed by Uberthons, using disposable timing chips. Race results will be available on-line within a minute of crossing the finish line! You can find the results after the race here.
Awards and Door Prizes:
Awards will be given for top male and female finishers, as well as age group awards. You must pick up your award at the awards table, as we do not mail out awards. We will also have some amazing door prizes at the Freedom 5K. Participants should check their bib number at the awards table to see if they won a door prize. Door prizes must be claimed before the end of the event.

Driving Directions:
As the 4th of July draws so many people into our town it is important that you follow these directions to enter and exit the race. Leave yourself plenty of time to arrive as traffic will be heavy.
From I-5 take exit 271 east onto hwy 214. This turns into Hwy 211 after you cross 99E in Woodburn. Continue on Hwy 211. After you cross 213 where the Molalla Safeway is, take your third right onto S Ona Way, take your next left onto South Molalla Forest Rd. Take a left on Molalla Ave., a right on 5th Street, and a left on Eckherd St. Track/Stadium is on the right.
From I-205, take exit 10 (Park place/Molalla) onto Hwy 213. Drive south on 213 for 16 miles. Turn left at the 211/213 intersection. take your third right onto S Ona Way, take your next left onto South Molalla Forest Rd. Take a left on Molalla Ave., a right on 5th Street, and a left on Eckherd St. Track/Stadium is on the right.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is anyone dressing up for the Freedom 5K?
A: We are encouraging those who would like to dress up in red, white, and blue. Let’s have fun together celebrating our nation’s independence!
Q: Can jogging strollers be used during at the Freedom 5K?
A: Yes. The Freedom 5K is perfect for families to be able to run or walk this together. Please just be courteous of the other runners and walkers around you, especially on narrow sections of the course.
Q: Will you have any aid stations?
A: Yes. There will be one aid station handing out water about 1/2 half way through the course.
Q: What about restrooms?
A: There are restrooms and showers available at the start/finish line. No restrooms on the course.
Q: Can my dog run with me?
A: While we all love our 4 legged friends we are asking that you leave your dogs at home, to ensure their safety and the safety of our participants.
Q: I am interested in training for the Freedom 5K, but I currently don’t run. How can I get started?
A: You are welcome to join any of our training runs. We meet every Saturday morning at 8:00, at Main St. Coffee. 215 E Main st. Molalla, Or 97038. We have groups for different ability levels. If you are looking for a training programs and your are just starting out, here are a couple of good options: Couch to 5K and Runner’s World.
Q: Can I watch the parade after the race?
A: Yes. Our start/finish line is very close to the end of the parade route. Depending on how quickly the parade moves along, and how quickly you finish the race you should have time to watch the parade.
Q: Will my race result be online?
A: Yes. Results will be available one minute after crossing the finish line! After the race you can find the results here.
