Voted best 2013 July race by Run Oregon! On the 4th of July in Molalla, thousands of people from all over the region will line our street to watch the parade. The Freedom 5K is a 3.1 mile race that mirrors the entire parade route just before the parade starts. This race is designed for both the serious athlete seeking a PR, as well as individuals and families just looking for a fun experience on the 4th of July. Aside from the thrill of having thousands of people to cheer you on as you accomplish your goal, the race also takes you through historic downtown Molalla, and provides a great way to see our community. Race is capped at 700 racers.
Beginning on the track at the stadium you will run/walk over a short section of field and up a street to the beginning of the parade route (1/2 mile to the parade route). Virtually all the remainder of the course mirrors the parade route. The course is flat and fast.

As a non-profit organization we are proud to be able to give 100% of our race profits back into the community. One portion of the profits will go to support veterans in need through our local VFW Post. The money raised goes
to our veterans to things like providing dental care to homeless veterans, giving care packages to active duty members in combat zones, and financial aide to needy/disabled veterans. It is the veterans who have secured our freedom, and we want to give back to them.
Another portion of our profits will go to our local Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber organizes the parade, and they support the businesses in our community. With the economic condition our Chamber has lost some funding and we want to support them so that they can support our local business.
This year we are proud to add the Community Transformation for Molalla for sidewalk restoration. This will allow us to donate a portion of our profits to “Rodeo walk of fame” which not only buys a plaque but also repairs the sidewalks around it.. By choosing to run the Freedom 5K you are making a difference!!!
Make sure to click on the “Donate” tab when you register if you wish to contribute beyond your race entry fee.
This race is designed for both walkers and runners. Official times will be given to all participants who finish the race in under one hour (19:21 min/mile pace). You will be allowed to finish the route as long as you stay in front of the parade. Strollers welcome. No dogs please.
All participants will get a technical t-shirt. The sooner you register, the better chance of guaranteeing your size as we have a limited number of certain sizes.
All participants will receive one general admission Molalla Buckaroo matinee ticket for July 4th. So after the race, plan on staying for the best rodeo around!
Awards will be given for top male and female finishers, as well as age group awards. You must pick up your award at the awards table, as we do not mail out awards. We will also have some amazing door prizes at the Freedom 5K. Participants should check their bib number at the awards table to see if they won a door prize. Door prizes must be claimed before the end of the event.
